Deep in the south of the Egyptian Red Sea, not far away from the Sudan border, the reef-group of Saint John's is located: Habili Kebira, Habili Soraya, Mahroos, Dangerous Reef, etc. Here you will find a nearly untouched underwater-world.
The steep slopes covered with variegated soft corals and giant seafans invite you to dreamlike dives. The richness in fish is stunning. Big groups of trevallies are turning in from the open sea. It seems that schools of wrasses and groupers are pushing themselves in the water. Typical for this area are napoleonfish and turtles. You will find a lot of sharks. Reef sharks are patrolling the area. At the steep reef-walls you will meet hammerhead sharks. And with a little bit of luck you will see babysharks in the cleft parts of the reef. At the reef-group the respective dive-sites are located within 30 min. from each other.
Far out in the open sea, the big island of Zabargad is located. At the north end, in a depth of 24 m, you will find a wreckage. 1 nautical mile away from Zabargad is Rocky Island. Rocky Island is towering of the sea. At the "Amphie-Theater" in the deeper areas you can watch the sharks. The shallow water enthrals with various corals as well as a lot of overhangs and small caves.
